Wentworth Falls

Personal 6 February 2016

This is my nirvana.

Wentworth Falls has been on my radar for quite some time now. I’ve seen the vast scenery from the top of the cliff and the glorious waterfall multiple times online, but nothing could have prepared me for the immense amount of sensory stimulation I felt when I did the hike and oversaw an infinite amount of trees from such an incredible vantage point. At one point, I felt like I was within a Murakami novel. It’s such a rarity to be able to surround myself in such a peaceful environment on a frequent basis, so when I did, I made sure I soaked it all in.

In full disclosure, the photographs do not do the Wentworth Falls any justice. As such, imagine this: We trekked along the narrow pathway towards the sound of rushing water. The sun seeped between the leaves and cast golden silhouettes. Vein-like branches saluted us as we walk past the lean trees, pointing us further down the cliff edge. Every now and then I caught a glimpse of the vast mountains beyond the woods. Everything was peaceful there. I heard birds, the crunching sound of crisp leaves flattening under the soles of my feet, the waterfall, my heartbeat pounding in my ears, the pulse of nature, the vibrancy of the sun. I felt whole with nature. I was in my element. This is my nirvana.
